Fear

Image
Not long ago, I saw a YouTube video of Will Smith sharing a life lesson apparently his grandmother taught him: "God placed the best things in life on the other side of fear." Wow. I don’t know who originally coined that phrase, but I found it profoundly beautiful, not to mention incredibly true. When I was a child, I was absolutely terrified of roller coasters. They looked like so much fun, but I just couldn’t summon the courage to actually get on one. Every fair, every theme park I visited, roller coasters were strictly off the list. It wasn't until I turned 20 that everything changed. I was at a theme park when, out of nowhere, a sudden burst of excitement and courage completely took hold of me. Before I knew it, I was strapping into the smallest roller coaster there, the one meant for kids, lol!. For years, I had been petrified of doing something that turned out to be an absolute blast. I rode it three more times before moving up to the midsized one. Baby steps, right...

Out of a joke

Image
Well, a few days ago my friend Hannah posted an interesting article about Bugs Bunny’s crossdressing habits ( So it’s come to this ) and the impact it had on a generation of young Trans that grew up watching him, like she and I. It’s kind of absurd to discuss a cartoon character’s gender identity, but actually neither her blog or this one are really about that but rather on how we connected with those types of characters. So as a joke I suggested her to talk about another interesting character named Ranma. Well the Joke backfired because she suggested I should write about it since she wasn’t familiar with it. So that’s how we ended up here. In case you are also not familiar with Ranma ½ he is a Japanese manga character first introduced in comic books back in 1987 and later adapted into a cartoon series in 1989. I think there are also a couple of movies and currently Netflix owns the rights to the series since 2024. So Ranma Saotome is a young teenage boy trained in martial arts and one...

Is it Bianca or Blanca?

Well hello again! So you decided to return? really? Ok, this is totally on you now. I will assume I did such a good job with my first posts that you were anxiously waiting for the next one. Wait no more then, here it is. So I decided for this post to talk about my female name selection. Is it Blanca and I’m just so clumsy I misspell it? Well let me tell you, I am clumsy but no, that’s not a typo. It is not Bianca with a capital “i” is Blanca with a lowercase “L”. Whaaaaaaa!!!? Well I don’t think it’s much of a shocker really specially to Spanish speaking people. It is a fairly common name in Latin America. In case you are not familiar with the word, it means “White”. So for example the classic character Snow White in Spanish is known as “Blanca Nieves” Nieve as you may already figured out it’s Snow. Ok so you might be thinking I got my name after Snow White, how original a Disney princess. Well actually no. She’s not even in my top 5 princesses. Which ones are they you ask? Ariel Rapun...

Expectations

Recently my friend Hannah posted an interesting article, “ Rated X for unrealistic expectations ” . In it she addresses a few issues from an interesting perspective, I get her point on how porn can influence or distort our expectations (or reality). I’m not going to lie and say I have never ever seen porn. I have come across it a few times during my life, what is also true though is that I have never paid for it nor consume it regularly. Every time I encounter it was purely unintentional.   Now did porn changed or distorted my expectations about how my wife would react to me coming out to her? Well no, because I’m talking about my teen years way before I even met her. What it did do for me, was to reinforce my desire to be a woman, how could it not if they looked like they were the ones enjoying it the most. but anyway I’m not going into that subject, what I actually want is to touch on a couple of paragraphs in her article about our partners. It is very true we usually have unreal...
